We are lucky. We have a huge balcony that runs the length of our apartment with green space behind. And we can't hang our laundry between the buildings (because dryers are still not common here).
We have a good 50 yards between us and the next building. And it is mostly greenspace with grass and bushes and trees.
Why do I like green space? Because it means I get to have visitors
